THE Anambra State branch of the Civil Liberties Organization has appealed to Professor Charles Soludo to immortalize late former governor, Pius Ezeife by renaming the Government House Awka in his memory.
It will be recall that Ezeife laid the foundation for the New Anambra State as the first executive governor.
Vincent Ezekwueme made the remarks on the sideline of the burial ceremony of the late sage in Igboukwu in Aguata LGA.
According to him, Ezeife contributed immensely towards the socioeconomic and political development of the Southeast and Nigeria.
“He is an epitome of patriotic servant leader, God fearing, prudent, steadfast, selfless and humanist.
“In life and in death he remains indisputable most courageous, articulate, compassionate servant leader, who always stand for what is right, fair, just and laudable regardless the consequences.
“Okwadike played indispensable roles towards unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, election of Nigerian President of Igbo extraction, and end to sit at home and insecurity and establishment of Southeast Development Commission as well as socioeconomic and political justice for all the zones in the country,” he said.
He also said that the Federal Government should immortalize Ezeife by naming any national monument in his memory and for President Tinubu to accent to a bill for an act to establish Southeast Development Commission recently passed into law by the National Assembly, in appreciation of his unprecedented selfless sacrifices and services to our country as civil servant, permanent secretary, governor and presidential adviser.
He urged the political class and civil servants to emulate him so as to actualize the Nigeria of our dreams, hopes and aspirations in tandem with the philosophy of our founding fathers.
“We equally commend the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, for his love, respect, care and concern towards the late sage.
May our merciful God accept his humble and gentle soul in paradise and give his family, Igboukwu Community, Aguata LG, Ohanaeze and Anambra state the grace and fortitude to bear and endure the irreparable loss,” he added.
