THE Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Adm. Awwal Gambo, has inaugurated projects at the Eastern Naval Command to enhance the welfare of personnel.
The projects inaugurated by the CNS on Thursday included officers gym and corner shops at 1006 naval barracks, Calabar.
Gambo charged officers of the Command to make good use of facilities at the gym to keep themselves fit at all times.
The CNS said that the service would continue to invest in the welfare of all personnel to enhance their efficiency and professionalism.
Earlier, Rear Adm. Ibrahim Dewu, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, said the gym was critical to the fitness of officers, adding that it was sited centrally for easy access by all naval units in Calabar.
“When I resumed in Calabar, I realised that the only gym we had was in Atimbo navy barracks which is very far; so we needed a gym centre which is central.
“In doing that, we saw a space at the 1006 barracks and I am happy that today, we have a complete gym centre for officers of the Eastern Naval Command,” Dewu said. (NAN)
