Coalition of CSOs and Development Partners Pays Advocacy Visit to ASPHCDA

THE Health Network of Partners (HNoP) which is a coalition of Civil Society Orgnisations (CSOs) and Development partners has paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ASPHCDA), Pharm Chisom Uchem.
The group who were committed to improving healthcare delivery in Anambra State in particular and Africa at large, does so through research operations, advocacy, capacity building, field operations and engagements.
The advocacy brief, which was aimed at supporting the implementation of healthcare goals of the present administration was held at ASPHCDA office complex, Awka.
The Executive Secretary commended the team on their commitment and dedication in the betterment of Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the state.
She noted that her administration would work with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) as they aimed toward active community involvement and participation in development of PHCs.
The State Converner, HNop, Mrs Ugochi Agalaba-Ehiahuruike explained that in partnership with relevant Government Ministries, Departments, Agencies and community groups, their organisation focus on policies and programmes of the government.
“This we do with the systems and processes put in place to drive healthcare delivery services in communities.
“Currently, we have over 12 Civil Society Organizations as technical members with the Community Empowerment Network (COMEN), which has its members present across the 181 communities in Anambra as our community based members.”
She emphasized that the HNoP leverages on the grassroots spread of COMEN who works hand-in-hand with Town Unions to articulate the development pathway for their communities.
“Through its mobilizing platform and networks, COMEN amplifies the voices of Ndi Anambra in shaping critical decisions about their development.
“So far, with the FixMyPHC campaign, initiated by the coalition, we have conducted facility assessment on more than 150 facilities, health budgetary researches, and budget analysis.”
Mrs Agalaba-Ehiahuruike noted that their organisation played a critical role on healthcare sensitization and used the findings from these exercises to conduct stakeholders’ dialogue/engagement sessions, community agents capacity building, and strategic information discrimination to the public.
“We assure that our team will remain passionate about contributing to enhancing the lives of those in need and is committed toward enhancing communities active participation in PHCs development.”
She, however, prayed for collaboration in the coordination for monitoring and oversight of the implementation of healthcare programmes also improving overall financial investment for the PHC subsector.
“We acknowledge that ASPHCDA shares our dedication to improving the health and wellbeing of our communities and hope that the Agency can provide us with the support we need.
“In return, we pledge to raise awareness of your Agency’s commitment to social responsibility, which will demonstrate leadership and positive impact in our communities,” she added.
