Commission says achieving Peace in Kajuru is possible

PRISCILLA Ankut, has called on the people of Kajuru Local Government Area to take ownership of the peace process midwifed by the commission in the area.

Ankut made the call at a joint meeting of the Commission and the Kajuru Truth, Peace and Reconciliation Committee, on Tuesday in Kufana.

She expressed delight at the willingness of all sides in the dialogue to live together in peace, urging them to do more in unison to confront the challenges of insecurity affecting them.

She said that achieving peace was possible among all the ethno religious groups if they could come together and deliberately work for peace in order to thwart the machinations of those whose actions threatened the peace of the area.

In his remark, the Chairman of the council, Mr Cafra Caino, pledged the cooperation of the local government to support all efforts geared toward restoring peace in the area.

He solicited for the support of all and sundry to return Kajuru to the path of enduring peace.

He further briefed the meeting on efforts so far made by the council to match the efforts of the Peace Commission and other partners, promising to do more for the sake of peace, which he said, engenders development.

Earlier, a Permanent Commissioner with the Peace Commission, Hajiya Khadija Gambo, narrated the technical support the Commission regularly provided to the committee to enable it achieve its objectives.

She pledged that the capacity of the local committee members would be improved to meet the current challenges facing them.

The chairman of the Truth, Peace and Reconciliation Committee, Mr Patrick Maigari thanked the Commission for its support and reiterated the zeal of the members to work day and night to ensure normalcy and tranquility in Kajuru.
