Community grassroots sports development programme for Secondary schools in Amuwo Odofin holds May 3

UNDER the auspices of the Commonwealth Sports Foundation Game Changer programme and the Commonwealth Games Nigeria, has announced to the general public that the  Community Grassroots Sports Development programme being organised for Secondary schools in Amuwo Odofin, Lagos, will take place as scheduled on Wednesday, May 3.

Twelve schools are expected to participate in the one-day programme which will feature three sports  Volleyball, Netball and Cultural Dance.  The event will hold at the Olympafrica project Site at Amuwo Odofin, Lagos. 

The schools that will participate in the above programme are Covenant Child Academy, Victoria High School and Westminster College, Sanya Senior Grammar School.  Others are Senior School Brightfield College, Gods Own Private School, Meritplace College, Great Esteem School Prestige School, John Kennedy International School and New Estate Baptist Academy.

A statement released by Tony Nezianya, Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Olympic Committee ((NOC) notes that the Objective of the programme will be to allow the students in the Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos to learn about the importance of sport and education for their development.

“the programme will promote social interaction among the students, which will offer opportunities for them to meet other students and engage in healthy competition”.

“The event promises to be a vibrant as well as entertaining experience, offering a unique opportunity to discover the variety and values of our rich cultural heritage.”

CGN will be awarding prizes to the top three in each of the events to feature at the event.

The President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel will declare the programme open.
