THE Chairman of Bakassi Local Government Area in Cross River, Iyadim Amboni Iyadim, has assured youths of the area that they will form the fulcrum of his administration.

Iyadim said this on Wednesday in Bakassi while receiving members of Bakassi Future Ambassadors, led by its Director-General, Mr Okon Asuquo, on a courtesy call in his office.

The chairman said the council was ready to key into programmes aimed at tackling youth unemployment by the state and the Federal Governments.

“I, therefore, urge you to acquaint yourselves with the ongoing N-power registration and the 774,000 jobs for the 774 local government areas of the country,” he said.

Iyadim further called on them to get involved in the ongoing registration for Livestock Programme of the Cross River government.

He urged the youths to be actively involved in programmes that would lead to development of the area.

The chairman said the council planed to introduce a bursary scheme for students of the area in institutions of higher learning.

“However, for the scheme to succeed you must be ready to undergo screening and verification exercise to check impersonation,” he said.

Speaking, Asuquo, commended the chairman for including youths in his cabinet and pleaded that more opportunities be created for them.

“As agents of mobilisation and sensitisation, we are prepared to work with your administration to reposition Bakassi to take its rightful place,” he said.
