Council chairman preaches peace, tolerance

The Chairman, Keffi Local Government Council of Nasarawa State, Alhaji Abdulrahman Maigoro, has urged Nigerians to live peacefully and tolerate one another for the overall development of the country.

Maigoro made the call when the Madakin Keffi, a traditional title holder, Alhaji Audu Usman, paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Keffi on Thursday.

He said that peace is priceless and non-negotiable, hence the need for all and sundry to live peacefully and tolerate one another in the interest of development.

“I want to thank you for the visit and to assure you of my continued readiness to initiate good policies and programmes that will have direct bearing on the lives of our people.

“My administration has embarked on different programmes in the areas of health, education, infrastructure, agriculture and market development, among others.

“All these is to change the lives of our people positively and for the overall development of our area, the state and the country at large.

“I want to urge you as Madakin Keffi to continue to preach peace, considering the importance of peace to societal development.

“As no society will achieve meaningful progress and development without peace,” he said.

Maigoro also solicited for the support of the people of the area to enable him succeed.

Besides, he urged the people of the area and the state to continue to pray and support Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s administration to succeed.

Earlier, Usman said that the visit was to identify with the council boss and to assure him of his support.

He also called on the people of the area and the state at large to continue to live in peace and tolerate one another for development to thrive. ( NAN)
