Council tasks residents on peaceful co-existence to boost food production

AUTHORITIES of Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, has urged its residents, especially farmers and herdsmen to co-exist peacefully in order to boost food production in the area.
Alhaji Suleiman Odaudu, the Director of Personnel Management (DPM) of the council made the call on Friday while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Toto.
Odaudu said that if farmers and herdsmen co-existed peacefully, it would not only boost food production but would also enhance the socio- economic activities of the people.
“The importance of peace to societal development cannot be overemphasized.
“This is because peace is priceless and non- negotiable and it is the necessary requirement for the development of any society.
“It is in view of this that the people should live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of their affiliations, for development to thrive,” he said
Odaudu said that the council had taken proactive steps to sustain peace and security in order to ensure a hitch free farming season.
He urged the people to be security conscious and report suspected movement of any person or groups to the appropriate authorities for necessary action.
The DPM also commended the efforts of the State government in tackling insecurity in the area. (NAN)
