THE Councillor representing Wakama Ward, Mr Thomas Bako, and Chief Awayi Kuje, a Principal Correspondent with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday inaugurated two rehabilitated boreholes in Ezhiba Community.
Ezhiba Community is in Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Speaking during the inauguration, Bako who rehabilitated Ezhiba Primary Healthcre Centre borehole, said the effort was aimed tackling water scarcity in the facility and improving on standard of living of people in the area.
He said it was also part of his continued commitment to complementing government efforts in providing water to communities.
”I felt I should rehabilitate one of the boreholes in order to tackle water scarcity and improve my people standard of living.
“The rehabilitation of the two boreholes to the only existing one will reduce long queues, because you know the danger of having only one borehole functioning in a community,” Bako said.
Bako, also Deputy Chief Whip of Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Legislature, promised to continue to key into projects that would have direct bearing on the lives of his people and others.
On his part, the journalist, who rehabilitated Ezhiba Market borehole, urged the community to ensure that they utilise and safeguard the boreholes properly.
“Water is a necessity as human beings cannot sustain their lives without water.
“This is my community and we have four boreholes, out of these four boreholes, only one is functioning.
“There was pressure on the only functioning borehole due to long queue by women and other people who need water,” Kuje, who is also the Secretary-General, Eggon Youth Movement (EYM) Worldwide, said.
Present at the inauguration of the boreholes were the District Head of Wakama, Chief Adams Makka Nangba; Village Head of Ezhiba, Mr Paul Angrbe; and Village Head of Ezhiba Makka, Mr Umbugadu Akpazi.
In their goodwill messages at the occasion, they lauded Bako and Kuje for rehabilitating the two dilapidated government boreholes in the community.
According to them, the boreholes will not only improve on the standard of living of the people, but also promote peace in the community.
They called on other sons and daughters of the community to emulate the duo for the overall development of the area.
The Chairman, Eggon Cultural and Development Association (ECDA), Ezhiba chapter, Mr David Sule Alaku, said the community would ever remain grateful to Bako and Kuje for their continued commitment to development.
Mr Averson Audu, the Chairman, Ezhiba Youth Movement (EYM), assured of their readiness to protect and ensure that the boreholes were used properly for the benefit of all. (NAN)
