AHMED Balogun, a 33-year-old man, on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting and damaging a car windscreen.
Balogun, whose residential address was not provided, is facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, assault, wilful damage and breach of peace.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Police Prosecutor, ASP Kehinde Ajayi, alleged that the defendant gave one Daniel Okonkwo, a blow on his left eye, following an unresolved argument.
Ajayi told the court that the defendant committed the offences with others still at large on July 21 at 5.00 p.m. at No. 5 Sumonu St., Pen Cinema in Agege, a Lagos suburb.
He said the defendant willfully and maliciously damaged the windscreen and both side mirrors of a BMW car with registration number KJA475FP, worth N110,000, belonging to the complainant.
The prosecutor added that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by preventing the complainant from driving out his car.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Ajibade, granted the defendant N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
Ajibade said the sureties must be gainfully employed and have evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The prosecutor said the alleged offences violated Sections 168, 173, 339 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate adjourned the case until Sept. 9 for mention.
