Court dissolves 25-year-old marriage over frequent beating, threat to life

AN Ado-Ekiti Customary Court on Thursday dissolved the 25-year-old marriage between Catherine Bello and her herbalist husband, Sule over of frequent fighting and threat to life.

The President of the Court, Mrs Olayinka Akomolede, ruled that Sule has shunned the court and vowed never to appear, she had no choice but to dissolve the union.

“Since the respondent has behaved in such a manner, the petitioner cannot reasonably be expected to continue living with him.

“The petitioner has shown a formal act of frustration. Both parties should go their separate ways,” she held.

NAN reports that Catherine , 68, who resides at  No 5, Orere-Owu, Ajibade St, in Ado-Ekiti, told the court that  she has three three children with her estranged husband.

She complained that her husband has threatened to kill her on so many occasions.

“My husband is a herbalist and I fear that he will make good his threat to waste my life. My husband has stalked me since I left his house.

‘I pray this court to save me from my husband. I  do not want to have anything to do with him anymore,” she pleaded.
