AN FCT High Court yesterday flayed the Inspector-General of Police, for failing to produce a defendant in the murder case before the court, Hajia Uwani Hussaini Usman.

Justice Angela Otaluka warned that the adjournment of the matter would be the last one for the court.

Uwaini and her son, facing three-counts charge over the alleged murder of Huzaifa Hussaini Usman, was present in court.

Umaini and her son were alleged to have strangled her husband, Alhaji Hussaini Usman on October 28, 2018 at the No B2A Latinwo Street, Adisa Estate, Durumi, Abuja between 5 am and 5.40 am when he came out for prayers.

“You (IGP) are the one in disobedience of court order,” she said.

“I’m giving you the last order to produce the defendant. Otherwise you can withdraw the matter.”

Earlier, prosecution counsel, Godwin Ijioma said the defendant, arrested on Saturday, had requested the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice to revisit the directive for her prosecution.

He said this forced the police to direct that the prosecution be halted until they receive further reply from the AGF’s office.

The case was adjourned to September 26 for hearing.
