A Kuje Upper Area Court, on Thursday, sentenced two labourers, Godfery Stephen and Tete Bassey to four months imprisonment each for house breaking and theft.

Godfery, 32, and Bassey 24, both residents of Anguwan Lado area of FCT, are facing trials for joint act, criminal trespass and house breaking.

The presiding judge, Abdulahi Abdulkareem, sentenced them after they pleaded guilty to the offences.

Abdulkareem ruled that the convicts are to spend four months in prison or pay a fine of N5, 000 each for joint act and criminal trespass.

The convicts were also sentenced to another term of four months or pay a fine of N5, 000 each for house breaking and theft.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Samuel Ocheche, told the court that the matter was reported at the Kuje Police Station on July 15 by Mr Chizoba Nwanyawu.

Ochoche said that on the same date the matter was reported, Godfery and Bassey, destroyed the complainants’ window and gained access to his house.

He alleged that the accused stole the complainant’s  plasma television, two laptop computers, three Nokia handsets and a DSTV decoder.

“In the process of escaping with the stolen items, the accused were all arrested,’’ he said.
