Court jails man 6 years for stealing N1.2m

AN Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, on Friday, sentenced a 21-year old man, Michael Fagbenro, to six years and one month imprisonment for stealing N1.2 million.

Fagbenro, whose address was not provided, had pleaded guilty to charges  of burglary, stealing and damages.

The  Magistrate, Mrs  A.O. Adeyemi, sentenced the convict without any option of fine.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the convict committed the offences on Oct. 6 at 10.30 a.m. at Ideheba  Onibukun area of Ota.

He said that the convict broke into the apartment of the complainant, Mr Popoola Omotoke, stole  N1.2 million cash and unlawfully damaged a window net valued at N7,500 in contravention of Sections 390  and 411and 415 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006. (NAN)
