A Federal High Court, FHC, sitting in Asaba on Thursday, April 4, nullified the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s governorship primary election conducted in Delta state.
Victor Ochei, plaintiff, through his lawyer Ahmed Rahi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), asked the court to declare that the APC’s gubernatorial primary election that held on Sunday, September 30, 2018, was illegal and unlawful on the ground that delegates unknown to the law were used for the exercise in a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1085/2018, Vanguard reports.
Recall that the Emerhor faction of the Cyril Ogodo-led state executive had dragged the Ogboru/Omo-Agege faction of the Jones Erue-led Delta APC executive, Adams Oshiomhole, the APC National Chairman, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to court over the conduct of the wards, local government areas and state congresses.
Among other prayers sought by the plaintiffs was a declaration that candidates that emerged from the primaries conducted by the Ogodo-led executive constitute the authentic list of candidates for the 2019 general election.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the governorship candidate of the APC in Delta state, Great Ovedje Ogboru assured the people of the state that he will reclaim the party’s stolen governorship mandate.
Ogboru gave the assurance in his Abraka country home, Ethiope East local government area of the state, on Wednesday, April 3. It was also gathered that the APC candidate said the party had filed its petition to challenge alleged illegalities committed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the governorship election. – Independent
