AN Abakaliki Magistrate’s Court, in Ebonyi, has advised a landlord, Mr Igwe Onyebuchi and his tenant, Mr Raphael Chima, to explore an out of court settlement over eight months rent.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Happiness Ogah, gave the advice after listening to the parties who appeared before her on Friday.
Onyebunchi’s lawyer, Mr Ifeanyi Igwe, thanked the court for the advice, saying “We the lawyers have been enjoined to explore alternatives means of settlement within ourselves.
“You know in a litigation, especially civil matters, parties are happy when they got justice at the end of the day,” Igwe explained.
Counsel to the tenant, Mr Ndubusi Nworie, expressed happiness over the court’s advice of seeking alternative settlement option.
The Magistrate however, adjourned the matter until May 24 for report of settlement. (NAN)
