Court remands 2 labourers for stealing cell phone, Tab

A Kabusa Grade I Area Court on Tuesday ordered that two labourers, who allegedly stole an Infinix phone and a Samsung tab valued at N194,000, be remanded in prison, pending bail applications.
The police charged Lawal Hassan,22, and Sani Auwal,20, who reside in Lugbe, Abuja with joint act and extortion.
The Judge, Ibrahim Kagarko, who gave the order, adjourned the case until Aug. 20, for hearing in the the bail applications.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mahmud Lawal, told the court that Mr Francis Danlami and Reuben Obet who live in Piwoyi, Airport road, Abuja, reported the case at the office of the Commissioner of Police FCT.
Lawal alleged that the defendants broke into the houses of Danlami and Obet and stole a Infinix hot II phone valued at N65,000 and a Samsung tab valued at N129,000, shoes and other valuables.
The offence, he added, contravened the provisions of sections 79 and 291 of the Penal Code Law.
After the charges were read to them , they pleaded not guilty.
