An Iyaganku Senior Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Ibadan, on Wednesday, remanded two persons, Bawa Maiyawo, 50 and Dengi Arande, 50, in Abolongo Correctional Centre at Oyo town over alleged armed robbery.
The Magistrate, Mrs T. B. Oyekanmi, who did not take the pleas of the defendants, ordered their remand, pending legal advice from the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).
Oyekanmi, thereafter, adjourned the matter till May 3, for mention.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Bewaji Ojo, had told the court that Maiyawo and Arande allegedly conspired with others, now at large, to commit the offence.
He said that the defendants attempted to rob Brent Farm at Okokolo village, Ijio, Oyo State, on Feb. 7 at about 9 pm.
He also said that the defendants were found to be in unlawful possession of one pistol.
The offence, he said, contravened Sections 2(2)(a), 3 and 6(b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap. RII, Vol. 14, Laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004. (NAN)
