A Kano Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded five men in correctional centre for allegedly being in possession of gun and robbery.

Musa Ibrahim, 48, Lawan Sa’adu, 38, Abdulwahab Ubale,20, Isma’il Bello,24, and Sa’idu Sani,40, are being tried for criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and illegal possession of arms.

Chief Magistrate Mustapha Sa’ad-Datti, gave the order pending legal advice from the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions on the case.

Sa’ad-Datti adjourned the case until April 7 for mention.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Miss Asma’u Ado, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Jan.13 at Zainawa Village in Gezawa Local Government, Kano.

He alleged that the defendants about 12:30a.m, criminally conspired with one Musa Abubakar and others now at large, to robbed two Chinese nationals.

Ado said the defendants broke into Wexiang Mosquito Company situated at Zainawa Village and allegedly robbed one Ananthachai Amnalbandit and his wife of four cell phones.

He said the defendants, while armed with dangerous weapons such as gun, cutlasses, and sticks, also took one computer device and two wristwatches worth N137,000.

The defendants, however, denied committing the offences.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, 2004 as amended. (NAN)
