A Gwagwalada Upper Area Court, Abuja, has ordered that one Joseph Usman, be remanded in a correctional centre pending sentencing, for stealing aluminum window materials valued at N650,000.

The police charged Usman, an aluminum fabricator, of Aco estate, Abuja, with criminal conspiracy, breach of trust and theft.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the charges.

The Judge, Abdullahi Abdulkarim, found the accused guilty, and adjourned the case until March 22, for sentencing.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Abdullahi Tanko, had told the court that the matter was reported on Feb. 27, at Iddo Police Station, by Mr Friday James, of Lugbe, Abuja.

Tanko said that in November 2022, the complainant gave the convict a job to install windows in his house at Leisure Court Estate, Sabo-Lugbe, Abuja.

He said that the convict, during investigations, confessed that he carted away some of the materials given to him for the job.

He said that the convict dishonestly sold the materials valued at N650,000 and abandoned the job.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 311, 320 and 287 of the Penal Code.

According to Section 287, whoever commits theft shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to five years or with fine or both. (NAN)
