Court remands man, 34, for alleged armed robbery

AN Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court Ibadan, on Thursday ordered that one Samson Banjo, 34, be remanded in a Correctional Centre for alleged armed robbery.
Banjo, whose residential address was not provided, was charged with armed robbery.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. A. Akande, did not take the plea of the defendant for want of jurisdiction.
She directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
Akande adjourned the case until Dec. 22 for mention.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr Philip Amusan, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on Aug. 10, at 6: 00 a.m. at Ogbere Housing Estate, Ibadan.
Amusan alleged that Banjo, while armed with gun and other dangerous weapons, attacked one Dolapo Morakinyo.
He alleged that the defendant dispossessed Morakinyo of her phone worth N95,000, clothing material – N20, 000, Spaghetti worth N5, 000 and N2,500 cash as well as one ATM card.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 1(2) of the Robbery and Firearms Law of Nigeria, 2004. (NAN)
