Court remands man, 37, for allegedly defiling 11-year-old daughter

AN Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday ordered the remand of a 37-year-old man, Musa Nurudeen, in the correctional centre in Ado-Ekiti for allegedly defiling his 11-year-old daughter.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, is being tried for alleged rape.
The Prosecuting Counsel, Mrs Shirley Atane, from Ekiti State Ministry of Justice, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 19, in Ado-Ekiti.
She alleged that the defendant, defiled his 11-year-old biological daughter, a JSS 1 student.
According to her, the offence contravenes Section 357 of the Criminal Code, Cap C38, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant in a correctional centre, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The plea of the defendant was not taken.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.F. Bamidele, ordered the remand of the defendant in the correctional facility pending issuance of legal advice.
She adjourned the case untill Aug. 11, for mention.
