AN Ikeja Magistrates’ Court has  ordered the remand of a 56-year-old man, Adesina Lawal, at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre on Tuesday for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl.

The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Mr O.A Layinka who did not take Lawal’s plea, ordered that the case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

She adjourned the case until April 30, pending the DPP’s advice.

The prosecutor, Insp. Lucky Ihieme, had told the court that Lawal allegedly committed the offence sometimes in November 2023 at Vero Asha St., Off Clem Road, Ijaiye Ojokoro, Lagos.

He said Lawal had carnal knowledge of the minor without her consent and also penetrated into her mouth.

Ihieme said the offence contravened sections 137 and 261 Criminal Laws of Lagos State (2015).

The offence is punishable by life imprisonment according to Lagos State laws. (NAN)
