Court remands man for allegedly defiling minor

AN Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Monday ordered that a 21-year-old man, Azeez Fawa, be remanded in prison for allegedly defiling a13-year-old girl.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr P.E. Nwaka, ordered that the defendant be remanded in Kirikiri Prisons, Lagos, pending advice from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions.

Nwaka, who did not take the plea of the defendant, adjourned the case until Nov. 4 for mention.

The defendant, whose house address was not provided, was arraigned on a charge of alleged defilement .

The Prosecutor, Insp Christopher John, alleged that the defendant committed the offence on April 12, at his residence.

John alleged that the  defendant had sexual intercourse with the 13-year-old-girl without her consent .

He said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, and punishable with life imprisonment on conviction. (NAN)
