Court remands man for allegedly defiling minor

AN Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Monday remanded a man, Obiesan Sultan, at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre, for allegedly defiling a four-year-old girl.

Sultan, is facing trial on a two-count charge of defilement and sexual assault by penetration, preferred against him by the Lagos State Government.

Justice Rahman Oshodi, remanded the  defendant after he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Oshodi adjourned the case until March 6, 2025 for commencement of trial.

The state counsel, Ms Bukola Okeowo, had told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Oct.9, 2023 at 9.30 a.m. at Ojewale Street, Soluyi, Gbagada in Lagos.

She alleged the defendant penetrated the private part of the four-year-old girl.

According to her, the defendant also inserted his fingers into the minor’s private part.

She said the offences violated Sections 137 and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Okeowo informed the court that the prosecution would call four witnesses to establish its case and would require a yoruba language interpreter. (NAN)
