A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kano on Tuesday ordered that a 31-year-old man, Suleiman Muhammad, who allegedly defiled a 13-year-old neighbour’s daughter, be remanded in correction centre, pending legal advice.

Muhammad, who lives at Kofar Ruwa Quarters Kano, is charged with defilement.

Chief Magistrate, Muhammad Jibril, who did not take the plea of Muhammad, ordered the police to send the case file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice.

Jibril adjourned the case until Sept. 19 for DPP advice.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Insp. Pogu Lale, told the court that the complainant, Halima Ibrahim of Bachirawa Quarters, Kano, reported the case at Hisba Office in Kano on Aug. 20.

Lale alleged that on Aug. 13, at about noon, Muhammad lured the complainant‘s 13-year-old daughter into his room, where he defiled her and gave her N500.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 283 of the penal code.
