Court remands man for allegedly defiling neighbour’s daughter

A Family Court sitting in Ibadan on Friday  remanded a 30-year-old man, Hammed Siyanbola, at Agodi Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 15-year-old daughter.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Patricia Adetuyibi, who did not take the plea Siyanbola, ordered that the case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

Adetuyibi adjourned the case until Oct. 27 for mention.

The defendant, who resides at Oyateru Street, Aba-Panu area of Ibadan, is facing a charge of defilement.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Folake Ewe, told the court that the defedant committed the offence on Aug. 28 at about 8.00 a.m. at his residence.

Ewe said that the defendant forcefully had canal knowledge of the teenager when she went to his room to borrow plastic bucket.

“The girl told her mother what the defendant did to her and the case was reported to the police,” the prosecutor said.

She said the offence contravened Section 34 of the Oyo State Child Right’s Law 2006.(NAN)
