An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Monday remanded one Adedini Okenla, 52, in police custody over alleged N100,000 fraud.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Abdullahi Emmanuel, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Oct. 15, 2019, at Moremi Area, Ile-Ife.

Emmanuel alleged that the defendant unlawfully collected the sum of N100, 000 from one Awojobi Fatai, under false pretences to lease a cocoa plantation farm situated at Abiri/Ogudu Road, Ile-Ife, to him; which he failed to do.

He added that the defendant allegedly stole the sum of N100,000 of one Awojobi Fatai and converted the amount to his own use.

According to him, the offence contravened Sections 390 (9) and 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The defendant, who was not legally represented, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of fraud and stealing.

Magistrate Joseph Owolawi refused the bail of the defendant but ordered for his remand in police custody pending the consideration of the bail. Owolawi adjourned the case until June 15, for hearing. (NAN)
