A Grade I Area Court, Dei-dei, Abuja ordered that a 30-year-old security guard, Joel Ayegba, who pleaded guilty to negligent conduct be remanded in police custody pending sentencing.

The Judge, Sulyman Ola who gave the order, adjourned the matter until Oct. 6 for sentencing.

Ayegba however begged the court for leniency.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Babajide Olanipekun told the court that the complainant, Ishaya Harrison of Kubwa, Abuja, reported the matter at the Dutse Alhaji Police Station on Sept.27.

Olanipekun said the complainant employed Ayegba as a security guard at his residence sometime in May, 2022.

He said that Ayegba abandoned his duty to an unknown destination and in the process, three big generator sets valued N1.2 million were stolen on Sept.27.

The prosecution counsel said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 196 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
