Court remands security guard for alleged theft of wheelbarrow, shovel

AN Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Friday ordered that a security guard, Joshua Uzebor should be remanded for sentencing for alleged theft of wheelbarrow and shovel kept in his care.
The Magistrate, Mrs M. O. Tanimola order that Uzebor, 28, should be remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre following a guilty plea to conspiracy and stealing of the items.
Tanimola adjourned the sentencing until Sept. 29 to enable the court hear the facts of the case.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Sunday Bassey, told the court that the defendant and some person at large committed the offence on Aug. 17 at Ikosi in ketu area of Lagos State.
Bassey alleged that Uzebor stole wheelbarrow worth N45,000 and shovel valued at N10,000 belonging to his employer, Mr Marcus Kufre.
He said that Uzebor allegedly sold the items to a scavenger for N8,000.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates three years jail term for stealing, while Section 411 provides two years for conspiracy. (NAN)
