Court remands Togolese for allegedly defiling neighbour’s 12-year-old daughter

A Family Court sitting in Iyaganku in Ibadan on Thursday ordered that a Togolese , Oloruntobi Kosi, 59, be remanded in a correction centre for allegedly defiling a neighbour’s 12-year-old daughter.
The police charged Kosi with defilement.
The Magistrate, Mrs P. O. Adetuyibi, who did not take the plea of Kosi due to lack of jurisdiction ordered that he should be remanded at the Abolongo Correctional facility, Oyo Town.
Adetuyibi said that the remand was pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
She adjourned the matter until Aug. 10, for mention.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Oluwakemi Arowosaye told the court that the defendant on May 3, at about 2:00a.m., at Agric Agbaruru road, Iwere-Ile, allegedly had unlawful sexual intercourse with the 12-year old child without her consent.
Arowosaye said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 34 of the Oyo State Child Right’s Law 2006.(NAN)
