A woman who has been repeatedly jailed for denying that the Holocaust happened was found guilty of hate speech again on Friday.

Ursula Haverbeck, who was sentenced by a district court in Berlin, was found guilty only a few weeks after she was released from prison on similar charges.

The court had sentenced Haverbeck to one year in jail for denying the Holocaust as historical fact, in a 2018 interview published online.

The 92-year-old said the comments were wrong or taken out of context.

Haverbeck, known for repeatedly and publicly denying the Holocaust, was released from prison only a few weeks ago after completing a sentence of two and a half years, also for hate speech.

She has repeatedly been charged with similar offences, the first time in 2004.

Haverbeck claims that the Auschwitz concentration camp was merely a work camp.

Historians estimate that some 1.1 million people were killed under the Nazi regime in the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp alone.(dpa/NAN)
