Court sentences trader to 8 months in prison for selling fake iPhone X

A Karu Grade I Area Court, Abuja, on Monday sentenced a trader, Sunday Agbafor, 27, to eight months in prison for selling a fake iPhone X to a businessman.

The convict, who resides in Maitama Abuja had pleaded guilty to cheating.

The judge, Sani Mohammed, who summarily tried and convicted Agbafor however, gave him an option to pay a fine of N10,000.

Mohammed also ordered the convict to pay N130,000 as compensation to the complainant.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Vincent Osuji told the court that the complainant, Oke Simon, reported the matter at the Maitama Police Station, on Aug. 21.

He said that when the convict deceived the complainant into buying iPhone X for N130,000.

Osuji told the court that he claimed that the phone was made in the UK.

Osuji said that the offence contravened the provision of Section 322 of the Penal Code Law. (NAN)
