THE National Orientation Agency (NOA) on Friday embarked on a sensitisation campaign to Fune and Ngelzarma Emirate Councils of Yobe on preventive measures against COVID-19.

Alhaji Ali Audu, the NOA’s State Director,  said that the sensitisation of the people remained the best strategy in preventing the spread of the virus in the state.

He said that the agency decided to collaborate with traditional rulers in its sensitisation campaign because of their influence and the vital roles they play in the society

Audu urged the people to wear face masks especially in public places, embrace social distancing, hand-washing with soaps and clean water and use alcoholic based sanitisers as effective measures against COVID-19.

He also advised the people to desist from a handshake, avoid crowded areas as much as possible and unnecessary traveling.

In his remarks, the Emir of Ngelzarma, Alhaji Muhammad Isa III,  commended the agency for taking the sensitisation campaign to the grassroots level.

He said that there were many people in the remote areas that needed more enlightenment on COVID-19 and the prevention measures needed to combat it.

Also,  the Emir of Fune, Alhaji Saleh Usman, assured the agency of his cooperation and support in the fight against the spread of the virus.
