COVID-19 Protocols: Handball federation’s compliance excites minister

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development (MYSD), Mr. Sunday Dare on Tuesday commended the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) for observing all necessary COVID-19 safety protocols at the ongoing Prudent Energy Handball Premier League holding in Abuja.

“I am impressed with the sitting arrangements, he asserts; the federation of handball have ensured that they abide by the Covid-19 protocol,” he said, while on a visit to the Indoor Sports Hall Package B, MKO Abiola National Stadium, venue of the tournament.

The minister noted that the tournament was amongst the first contact sport to feature in the country following the lifting of restrictions imposed due to the Covid-19 pandemic

He added:  “I am excited to see that handball can have their league this year and as we also look forward to Super Eagles match on Friday, against Sierra Leone, then you know that sports have returned”.

Dare also commended Sokoto Gov. Waziri Tambuwal for donating a 32-seater bus to the HFN to facilitate its transportation.

“I appreciate the effort of the governor and hope that other governors will do likewise, not just in handball but other sports as well”, he said, while also commending Prudent Energy for their sponsorship of the tournament.
