CR Victor Nursery and Primary School, Ijesha, has emerged the winner of the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) Bible Quiz Competition for primary schools in Lagos.
The school beat eight other schools to clinch the trophy for the primary school category.
God’s Glory Abides Nursery & Primary School, Agility, Mile 12, was the second runner up while the Covenant Child Academy, Ibeju Lekki, took the third position
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said that the competition was the second in the series organised by the BSN.
The General Secretary/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the BSN, Pastor Samuel Sanusi, in his remarks, said that the competition was introduced to make pupils interact with the Bible from their tender age.
Represented by the Assistant General Secretary, Finance, of the BSN, Mrs Oluwagbemi Oluyemisi, Sanusi said that the competition was in line with the biblical injunction in Proverb 22 vs 4 which said”
“Train up a child in the ways of the Lord and when they grow up, they will not depart from it.”
According to him, it is better and safer to instill moral discipline in children than in adults because as they grow up it becomes their way of life.
One of the two contestants that won the competition for CR Victor School, Miss Daniella Robert said that preparing for the competition was not an easy task.
She said that she has to read the recommended texts over and over again and asked questions all the time.
Robert said that her parents even had to set questions for her to answer.
Her colleague, Miss Abu Dorreta said that it was long nights and days of preparation and she thanked the BSN for the opportunity.
