A DRIVER, Maduka Paschal, who allegedly burgled his former employer’s house and stole jewellery valued at N1.2 million, was on Thursday brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The accused, 35, who resides at 16, Zinson St., Ojodu area of Lagos, is facing charges of burglary and stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Raji Akeem, told the court that the offences were committed on Nov.1 at Plot 5323 Aina Akingbala St., Omole Phase 2, Lagos.

Akeem said that the accused burgled his former employer’s house when they went to church and stole the jewellery and camcorder video.

“The accused, being the former driver of the complainant, Mr Olawale Amao, already knows when no one will be at home,” he said.

Akeem added that the accused was seen by one of the security guards when he entered the estate.

The offences contravened Sections 287 and 307 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr T.O. Shomade, admitted the accused to a bail of N1.2 million with two sureties in like sum.

Shomade ordered the accused to pay N20, 000 into the Chief Registrar’s account as part of the bail condition.

He adjourned the case until Dec. 6 for mention.  – NAN
