A 21-year-old, Daniel Sadiku, was on Friday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly attacking a man with a cutlass during a fight.

Sadiku, whose address was not provided, is standing trial on a four-count charge of conspiracy, stealing, damage and unlawful assault.

A fight broke out as a result of a hot argument between the accused and the complainant, Mr Joseph Ochonu, and in the process, Sadiku brought out a cutlass and cut Ochonu on his body.

The accused also stole the complainant’s phone valued at N47,000 and two vehicle batteries, Police Prosecutor Ishola Samuel told the court.

“He also damaged the windscreen of the complainant’s truck,’’ said Samuel, adding that the accused committed the offences with others still at large on April 8 at Aboru in Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos.

The offences contravened Sections 173, 287, 350 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

The Magistrate, Mrs A. I. Abina, who gave the ruling, insisted that the sureties must provide evidence of two years tax clearance as part of the bail conditions.
