CVR Update: INEC records more female registrants

THE quarter 4, week 7 of the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration, CVR, conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has shown an increase in the number of females with complete registration over the males.
The figures, released on the INEC’s twitter handle on Monday, May 30, 2022, showed a total of 10,235,569 new registrants.
According to the Commission, out of 10 million new registrants, 6,544,245 persons have completed their registration.
It also said that this figure includes a total of 3,253,441 males and another 3,290,804 females.
Youths between the ages of 18 and 34 accounted for 4,550,847, while middle aged persons between 35 and 49 years accounted for 1,360,640 of the new registrants.
The elderly, between 50 and 69 years accounted for 556,572, while old persons, 70 and above accounted for 76,188 of the total new registrants.
Out of this number, 2,928,447 persons have completed their online registration, while 3,615,798 persons have completed their physical registration and 53,663 Persons With Disability, PWD’s, registered in this quarter.
INEC has announced earlier that the ongoing online pre-registration will end on May 30, 2022 while the ongoing CVR will end on June 30, 2022.
