CVR update: INEC records over 5m new registrants

THE weekly update on the Continuous Voter Registration for quarter 3, week 4 revealed that the National Electoral Commission, INEC, has recorded 5,353,744 fresh registrants.
The report, which was published on the commission’s website on Monday January 31, 2022, showed that out of over 5 million new registered voters, 2,805,089 persons have completed both their online and physical registrations.
While 1,148,631 persons had completed their online registration, 1,656,458 persons had completed their physical registration.
Out of these 2,805,089 persons, 1,414,675 were male, while 1,390,414 were female.
Similarly, youth within the ages of 18- 34 years were 1,950,623, those within the ages of 39 – 49 accounted for 582,468, elders within the ages of 50-69 were 999,032, while old persons within the ages of 70 and above were 140,240 persons.
Also, people living with disabilities PWDs had 25,523 new registrants.
Realnews reports that INEC has continued to call on the public to register for either a new Permanent Voter Card, PVC, for those who have never been registered, request for an update or apply for a new PVC for those who have misplaced theirs.
