She equally highlighted the database as a pivotal step towards integrating Nigerians into Canada’s political, economic and social domains.

The NiDCOM Chairman thanked Nigerians in Canada for setting a good template and urged all other Diasporas in other countries to do same.

Speaking in the same vein, Amb. Obioma Nzewuji, the Chargé d’Affaires, Nigeria High Commission, Ottawa, stated that the database will facilitate greater engagement between the Nigerian community, the High Commission and local authorities.

He called for stronger ties and collaboration among Nigerian organisations in Canada.

Similarly, Ako Ufodike, Deputy Minister, Multi-culturalism and Immigration Alberta, acknowledged the data’s importance at linking newcomers with existing community resources, especially with the recent increase of Nigerians in Alberta.

The database features a comprehensive contact details for more than 85 Nigerian-led community and student associations, including, professional, cultural, religious, business, and student organisations; aimed at consolidating Nigerian organisations throughout the nation.

The database is designed to give easier access to Nigerians who may need to connect, particularly students and new comers, while a meeting of all registered associations will be jointly co-ordinated in the coming year.
