SOLOMON Dalung, minister of sports, has inaugurated the Nigeria Gymnastics Federation board. Kelvin Ehizogie won the NGF presidential election. But the NGF and Nigeria Taekwondo Federation boards were not inaugurated by the minister on last Friday due to the disagreements over the polls.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Dalung advised the 13-member NGF board to work in harmony to develop the sport in the country. The minister said, “I want the federation to concentrate on the development of sports at the grassroots.

“We have deflated the profile of our elite athletes; if something is not done, we will be in short supply of athletes in the near future.”

Dalung warned that the ministry would not tolerate presidents who would run their federations as sole administrators. He said, “You must consult and hold meetings as provided in the code of governance. There must be transparent management of funds whether from the government, government agencies or sponsors.”
