DAPO Oyebanjo, the Nigerian musician known to many as D’banj, is releasing another album to the market. The work titled Koko Garri, will hit the super markets all over the country very soon, from the stable of Koko Holdings Company. D’banj whose other alias is Koko Master, has been one of the busiest entertainers in the country. In the recent past, he has also diversified into so many other business ventures including farming and food processing.

Having studied the Nigerian market, the music superstar decided to come up with the most popular food item for the title of his new work. He took to his Instagram to announce the arrival of Koko Garri said thus: “Finally here after five years. I can proudly say Koko Garri is the first product of Koko Holdings, thanks to God.” This, perhaps, says much about his recent hobnobbing with Akinwumi Adesina, minister of agriculture.

JEFFERY Hawkins, United States consul-general, believes that a two-week film production training for some youths in Niger-Delta would help to transform their lives and communities. Hawkins made the remark at the presentation of certificates to 21 youths from Bayelsa, Rivers and Delta States at the end of Nollywood film production course recently. “We, from now on, want to see you all as change agents in your different Niger-Delta communities. With this training in film production, we want you to tell the world that Niger-Delta can be non-violent. Dawn in the creeks is about telling a film narrative of non-violent transformation in Niger-Delta,” Hawkins said. He also urged the youths to see themselves as agents of change in their different communities.

The programme entitled: “Dawn in the Creeks,” had been launched at the residence of the consul-general in Ikoyi, Lagos as an initiative of the Niger-Delta Legacy Engagement aimed at forging peace and transformation in the Niger-Delta. Jeta Amata, coordinator of the project, said the youths were trained in script writing, editing, unit production management, directing, photography, social transformation and leadership. “These young filmmakers can now produce real-life dramas on conflict, oil, reconciliation and peace in the Niger-Delta,” he said, adding that more youths would be trained in other states of the region.

One of the beneficiaries, Dede Nwaudo, commended the organisers for giving them skills that would take their minds off violence and other social vices. “We have been taught to fish and not to continue to receive fish from people. We are going to make the best use of what we have learnt in transforming our lives and those around us,” he said.
