THE Chairman, Nasarawa State Local Government Service Commission, Mr Sani Bawa, has warned workers of the state Local Government Areas against all forms of misconduct in the interest of peace and development.

Bawa gave this advice on Monday while addressing separately the staff of Umaisha and Gadabuke Development Areas of the state during a tour of the council areas.

He said that the advice became necessary for the council workers so that they could wake up to their responsibilities, warning that sharp practices would no longer be tolerated by the government.

Bawa said the tour was meant to interact with the workers with a view to listening to their problems and proffer solutions to them.

“This tour is very crucial to the development of not only the staff, but the state at large.

“Because it will afford the staff the opportunity to brainstorm on issues
affecting them and on how to address such problems.

“I want to call on all of you to be productive in order to justify your pay through dedication to duties and hard work so as to contribute your quota to the development
of the state.

“You are also advised to shun absenteeism, truancy and other sharp practices capable of affecting your productivity, your image and that of the state and country at large.

“The commission will not and will never tolerate any act of absenteeism, lateness to duties in the interest of development,“ he said.

He lauded the existing working relationship between the management of the councils and its staff.

The commission chairman assured them of the state government’s continued commitment to the training and retraining of council workers for effective service delivery.

In their separate responses, Iliyasu Usman and Halidu Liman-Sani, the overseers of Umaisha and Gadabuke Development Areas respectively, described the visit as timely and called for its sustenance.

They restated their staff’s commitment to the performance of their duties in their places of primary assignment to enhance optimal productivity.
