NATIONAL Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has organised a three days retreat to re-engineer its staff to handle new disasters facing the country.

The Zonal Director of the agency in charge of Kano, Katisina and Kaduna, Mr Ishaya Chonoko, in his opening remarks, highlighted on the importance of boosting the morale of the staff.

He said that the retreat was imperative in view of many trends of disasters erupting in the country such as banditry, kidnappings and flooding.

“We also want to build a bond between our staff and stakeholders and we want to strengthen our relationship because disaster management needs strong and effective collaboration,’’ he said.

Chonoko therefore called for synergy among stakeholders to identify and be proactive in preventing and mitigating disasters and emergencies.

The Director charged all participants to pay attention to the retreat in order to take away best practices and new ideas.
