Defendant, 24, docked for burglary

A 24-year-old man, Adam Nurudeen, who allegedly burgled a house to steal household items valued N557,560, on Wednesday appeared before an Ojo Magistrates’ court in Lagos.
The defendant, whose house address was not given, is standing trial before Magistrate L J.K. Layeni on a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
The prosecutor, Dr Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Sept. 16, at Navy Town, Ojo.
He alleged that the defendant and his accomplices still at large, had broken into the apartment of Mr Nathan Chama, the complainant, and carted away several items.
Uche listed the items allegedly stolen by the defendant and his fleeing accomplices to include a 50- inch Hisense Television valued N270,000, an Asus Laptop valued N107,000, an iphone 6 valued N50,000, with N130,000 cash.
According to him, the total value of stolen items is N557,560.
He told me the court that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 287, 307, and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The court granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum
The magistrate adjourned the case until Nov. 11 for mention. (NAN)
