THE Delta State Government, through the Ministry of Technical Education, has employed 513 teaching and non-teaching staff for the state technical colleges.
The Commissioner for Technical Education, Mr Shola Daibo, said this in a statement in Asaba on Tuesday.
According to her, more than 28,000 persons applied for both teaching and non-teaching positions, while 8,000 were shortlisted for interview and 513 were appointed into the state public service.
“The selection process was handled by consultants, and the process was based on merit.
“Before now, Technical Education was neglected in the state until Governor Okowa resuscitated the existing technical colleges and built more .
“If you go to the new technical colleges, you will see that they are great establishments, looking more like universities,” she added.
Daibo urged the newly recruited staff to take their responsibilities seriously urging them to stay away from truancy and give their best to students as a way of giving back to the society.
She also said the ministry would partner with the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku in training the teachers.(NAN)
