Delta Gov’t inaugurates council on ease of doing business

THE Delta Government has inaugurated a council for the ease of doing business as  part of its efforts toward promoting business sustainability in the state.

The council, under the aegis of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, has Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa, as its Chairman.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah, presided over the inauguration on Thursday in Asaba, on behalf of the state governor.

Some of the members of the council are: the SSG, the Commissioners for Trade and Investment, Economic Planning, the Head of Service (HoS) and the Chief Economic Adviser to the governor.

Ukah said that the objective of the council, both at the Federal and State levels, was to remove critical bottlenecks and bureaucratic constraints to doing business.

He listed the terms of reference of the council to include: removing bureaucratic constraints to doing business, strengthening the implementation of business environment and constituting a technical committee that would facilitate the ease of doing business.

The SSG urged the members of the council to carefully study the materials associated with the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms in order to make significant and effective contributions toward creating an enabling business environment in the state.

The Commissioner for Economic Planning, Mr Barry Gbe, speaking on behalf of the council members, said that the council would carry out its task judiciously for the progress of the state. (NAN)
