NIGERIA Traders in Ghana on Sunday urged compatriots in Nigeria to embrace peace and unity, to achieve meaningful progress.
Mr Chukwuemeka Nnaji, President of the Nigerian Union of Traders Association in Ghana (NUTAG), made the call in a telephone interview with the New Agency of Nigeria (NAN)
Nnaji said this in agoodwill message by NUTAG in commemoration of the forthcoming June 12 “Democracy Day” celebration in Nigeria.
He also spoke on what Nigeria stand to lose or benefit united or divided, separated or divorced, as the case might be.
“In view of the current tensions in the country, there is the need for Nigerians to remain united and strong.
“In the words of Prof. Charles Soludo, former Gov. of Central Bank of Nigeria, and I quote, “it is better to be a leg of an Elephant than a full ant”.
“I believe in one great Nigeria in peace, love and unity; Nigeria will lose a lot if divided, just as the word goes that “United we stand divided we fall” one is our hope, our happiness, our power or strength.
“This is our benefit as we continue to develop, let the killings stop now and let us live together equally in oneness and love one another, as one.
The world has used us as laughing stock, but we can prove them wrong and show what Nigeria can do, as the only hope for the black race,” Nnaji said.
He, however, expressed confidence on Nigeria potential to remain the giant of Africa ,amidst economic challenges, while praying God to bless the country. (NAN)
