THE Chairman of Warri South Local Government Council in Delta, Dr Michael Tidi, on Monday, said that his administration would work within the ambit of environmental laws in carrying out its beautification exercise in the area.

Tidi stated this while receiving the Chairman, Delta Environmental Task Force, Mr Sylvester Oromoni, and his team who paid him a courtesy visit in Warri.

The chairman, who identified duplication of functions as a major challenge in the nation’s democratic system, said that the council would collaborate with the task force to keep Warri clean.

“The task of keeping Warri clean remains one of my top priorities.

“I am delighted that the task force on the environment has deemed it fit to visit us and promise to collaborate with us to ensure that the task ahead is accomplished.

“We are going to work within the ambit of the law to ensure that the rights of citizens are not trampled upon.

“All the necessary notices will be served on owners of illegal structures before demolition,” he said.

Tidi appealed to the state government to make more equipment available to the council to facilitate the task of beautifying Warri.

In his remarks, Oromoni said that the task force was ready to collaborate with the council to actualize the dream of beautifying the area.

“We are here to tell the council chairman of our readiness to collaborate and work with Warri South Special Task Force on Beautification.

“We will partner with the council to ensure that we achieve our goals. We are all working together to achieve the same results,” Oromoni said. (NAN)
